Jake is a character in the television series Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.
He was a member of the criminal biker gang New Children of the Old God.
Biography
Jake happened to come across Bart Curlish and Ken, who's car had broken down. Jake inspects the cars' engine, and tells Ken that it's the carburetor that caused the car to come to a stop. Jake says that he can fix it, but it's going to take some time, to which Ken thanks him. Ken then quietly asks if it's possible that Jake could call him a cab, Ken's motive that he wanted to get as far away from Bart as he could before more people were killed. Jake replies that it's lucky he even found them, as the road is empty and goes on to say that plenty of people die out there.
Later that night, Jake had fixed the car's engine. Ken urges Jake to leave, saying that he's in danger. Jake looks confused and tells Ken that he's going to take the couple's car. Jake goes on to say that Bart and Ken are the tenth couple they've found out there. He reveals the sinistic plot, his biker gang, the New Children of the Old God, kill the car's occupants, cut their bodies up and then sell the car parts for cash.
Jake pulls a revolver and fires at Bart, missing every time until Bart is standing directly in front of him. However the gun still doesn't go off. Bart snatches the gun from the bewildered Jake's hand and beats him to death with it.[1]
Jake's body is discovered later on by members of the New Children of the Old God, who then successfully track down Bart and Ken's car, proceed to run them off the road and abduct them.[2]
