I wanted to denounce a user of the Detroit wiki: Become Human called: VIDEOGAMEFAN498, the guy thinks he's ready. He says that my information on the page: Anti-Android Protester Leader is false, I do not believe what this buzzer says, this is a braggart but let's go. Go block it, that has made my life impossible, tell me something in the Wiki of Detroit when you receive this message, the user with whom I have put the information is God5645, Chao.
I’d appreciate it if you would talk to me before removing things that’s I’ve spent time writing on wiki pages. I don’t care if you rewrite things I’ve written or move them around but if you’re going to delete them I’d like to talk about why I put it there in the first place.
Are you talking about the notes cleanup? As they were basic bio and episode plot bits, which to me belong and are treated in the plot section and personal articles, I integrated them where they weren't. I wasn't aware they were supposed to stay doubled.
My intent for the Notes section was to be similar to the Notes/Continuity/Trivia section on many other wikis. The reason for the double information was to highlight the connections between episodes. If a person isn't watching the show frequently then they may forget what has happened in previous episodes so instead of having to reread the entire plot of the other episodes or the biography of each character they could instead just read the notes section. Also some trivia may go unnoticed while watching the show and the notes could inform the reader of things that they may have missed.
If you mean the positioning of the named tags, I'm doing it thus: The namer tag goes onto the main batch of info it belongs to, and the smaller tags referring to that go to secondary bits of info. E.g. a the namer "episode x" tag goes onto the bit of story happening in the episode, while smaller bits of trivia, like a birthdate mentioned therein, gets the referential tag, even if it's earlier in the article.
Does that make sense? Not sure if I'm explaining it right.
I didn't delete anything on purpose. I cleaned up the pre-Rimmer bio, and added some at the end.
I just now went throught the history bit by bit, in case I may have accidentally deleted something or edited an older version, and I think the latter may be the case. Check out this edit stage of yours vs mine here. I think that is where I accidentally edited an older version (this edit). Is that the missing text you were looking for? If so, you can copy your relevant bits and put them back in from the history log. I'd do it myself but I'm not sure if those are the right bits.
If that is the problem you meant, then I am sorry and apologize. And sorry for the extra work. It was truly an editing accident and not on purpose.
Hi! I'm coming here by way of the BBCA version too. Though I'm also doing general cleanup. (The no admin thing is a bit impractical there, if there's no one who can move and delete stuff. Tho you might already be eligible for adopting?)
Was wobbling a bit on where to go with it, here or the other one, but I tended a bit towards this wiki here. Since it keeps all franchise versions together, and seems open to go into detail for all versions, not just the books/bbc tv version, if I've seen it right.
Yeah I was pretty much planning on passing it to you. You seem to have your own idea on what you want to be done plus the only reason I started working on the wiki was because it was pretty empty in relation to the BBC America version.
I usually refrain from editing wiki pages because I'm really busy as a graduate student/teacher and shouldn't actually spend as much time as I do editing pages. I only become really active in a wiki is if I start watching a show and find that the wiki for that show is pretty much empty with no active contributers. That's the reason I started editing this wiki. I watched the BBC America season 1 and came here and found that there were no character pages and only like two episode pages.
When I first started editing I didn't really have an end goal, I was just editing and adding page by page while using the templates that the admin and previous users had set up. I think this is different for you. You seem to have an overall idea of what you want to be done with the wiki and more time than I do.
So it's not a negative criticism? Phew. I was afraid I was doing things wrong / against your plans. I'm not that good at guessing with people; sorry.
Well I guess I shouldn't spend that much effort here either, cause I definitely could do other RL things and I don't know if anyone cares, but *shrug* I'm doing it. Cause I also saw is was empty and disordered, and that just pokes my help thing. :p And it's a good place to put all the history and stuff one figured out as any.
I just got admin and beurocratic rights! Once you hit a week mark on editing the wiki, I don't see any reason not to make you an admin. Until then if you hae anything you want me to change just let me know!
Also I think it would be a good idea to pool our thoughts on the wiki together somehow so that we can both work on them rather than one person trying to do it all. I may not have as much time to work on the wiki but I would still very much like to continue contributing and putting in my thoughts.
Hm, not sure how. I wasn't really doing anything esoteric, I think.
I was gonna ask you on opinions for character sub-cat names next, but you already did that just now. And was thinking about maybe changing the tags on the older tv show articles from (TV).
In general I had been doing basic cleanup, and filling in characters and things, mostly for BBCA. In the general basic page style I have been using. I put up a User:Dingelchen/Wiki matters page just now, where I'll try to put down some of what/how I do in a coherent fashion.
I agree on erasing (TV) from the BBC character names, I'll start doing that now. I noticed that you added (BBCA) to some characters who don't have repeat names, is there a reason?
In most wiki communities that I've participated in I've been pretty much the only person editing so I'm not sure the best way to communicate since I think continuing to comment on this might make the threat too long to follow easily? It seems like we are the only two people currently active on this site but I don't think theres a way to like directly message someone on wikia right? The other thought I had was maybe to make a blog post?
Yeah on the DG TV tag I was thinking maybe (BBC TV)? To distinguish from bbc radio etc.
Talking on the message wall is OK. As an alternative we could just make a profile subpage as an old-school talkpage that can be erased easier. On blog posts I have no experience with and thus no opinion. There should also be a chat function that you should be able to enable, if it's not on already.
On the BBCA tag, I added that to some of the names which were short mononyms, and thus likely to repeat; so that was to disambig them more, partly as a preventive measure and partly in general.
Notes & Opinions on the tags you changed: With the animals, names of Rapunzel and Bentley you should leave as is, as that's how they are credited; I'd maybe put the (cat) tags in lowercase. On the DG, maybe put (BBC TV series) for the series and (BBC TV) or (BBC TV character) for the character?
You have retitled the OG characters with a (novel) tag. That kinda makes them look like book titles; maybe (novels), or directly (Adams) would be more appropriate? I hadn't thought about moving the OG stuff to a tagged title, but if that is needed I might lean towards (Adams); I dunno.
