Project Black Book is an organisation in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.
Black Book was a government program, which was also dealt with strange phenomena such as anomalous entities. It was a predecessor to Project Blackwing.
History[]
Black Book was a secret government program.[1]
In the 1960s, Black Book became aware of strange occurences in the town of Bergsberg, Montana, which were caused by a boy, the younger son of the Cardenas family. After the disappearance of their parents, the boy's older brother Arnold Cardenas called the phone number Black Book had left them and gave up the boy to them. When agents went in to seize the boy he struggled and had a seizure, at the same time that an electromagnetic pulse struck the area, then fell into a coma.[2]
Black Book took the comatose boy with them, code naming him Project Moloch; they also seized and fenced off the Cardenas family's house and surrounding property.[3]
Moloch and the Bergsberg incident were never really followed up due to the government pulled funding from Project Paperclip, and canceled their top-secret programs including Black Book.[4]
Black Book did eventually receive a successor in the creation of Project Blackwing in 1988.[1]
